Dutch family-owned heavy transport specialist, Van der Vlist, has recently moved 34 containerised gensets from the UK to Germany. In addition to the 43-ton units, the company also delivered one fuel tank and two alternators per set, moving a total of 136 pieces to the Frankfurt area.

The project represented a peculiar challenge as the delivery location was close to an environmentally protected area. For the project to go ahead, several visits and discussions with the local authorities took place.

The Gensets were transported from the UK factory on low loaders to the Van der Vlist Facility in Groot Ammers, where they were transferred onto vessel bridge trailers using our gantry crane to facilitate movement through Holland and Germany due to their height.

A strict delivery timeline required two full sets (along with ancillaries) to be on site every week, highlighting the importance of timing to ensure just-in-time deliveries for the crane and installation team.

Despite experiencing some initial delays in the schedule because of the finalization of permits, we succeeded in recovering this time during the final phase of the project to guarantee that all deliveries were completed on schedule.
