The US heavy haulage and engineered transport specialist Berard was recently entrusted with moving two cold boxes to the port of Houston for export. The two units have been delivered from two different origins in Louisiana to an ocean-going vessel in Houston.

The massive cold box was transported from a fabrication facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to a deck barge. Weighing nearly one million pounds (453 tons), the cold box required careful planning and specialized equipment to meet Louisiana Department of Transportation (DOTD) requirements for road transport. Berard’s engineers developed a detailed plan and utilized 32 axle lines of Scheuerle SPMTs to lift, transport, and load the cold box onto the barge.

The barge arrived at the second loading station in New Iberia, Louisiana, within 24 hours. Berard’s team once again utilized Scheuerle SPMTs to seamlessly load the cold box onto the barge. The barge then navigated inland waterways to reach the Port of Houston, where the cargo was successfully transferred for export.
