Offshore services provider BOA Offshore has completed the transport and launching of a Living Quarter & Utility Platform (LQUP) jacket for McDermott. The unit was loaded at Lumut, Malaysia, and delivered to the ONGC deep-water oil and gas field KG-DWN-98/2, located offshore India’s east coast.

The operation involved BOA’s semisubmersible vessel, Boabarge 33, which was deployed to transport the LQUP jacket. The offshore installation was executed using a combination of barge submersion and lifting by the Heavy Lift Vessel DB50.

Boa Offshore team was contracted by McDermott which secured the contract with ONGC in November 2023. Under the scope of the contract, McDermott performed the transportation and installation of a central processing platform (CPP) and living quarters for the project.

The state-owned energy company ONGC started oil production from the KG-DWN-98/2 in January this year. Once the project ramps up its production to 100 per cent it will be delivering 45,000 barrels of oil per day and more than 10 million standard cubic meters per day of gas.
