AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary of ESL Shipping, has received the fourth plug-in hybrid newbuild within a year with the delivery of Aquamar on 17 September. The vessel, AtoB@C underlines, is “equipped for cutting-edge maritime operations” that will assist the company in reducing its environmental impact further.

The vessel features hybrid propulsion and shore power connectivity. With a deadweight tonnage of 5,350 and ice class certification, Aquamar is designed for both efficient and eco-friendly voyages. The integration of battery technology allows the vessel to operate emission-free during port stays, reducing CO2 emissions by nearly 50 per cent compared to the current fleet.

Earlier in September, AtoB@C Shipping launched its fifth vessel, Maximar, which is currently undergoing outfitting ahead of its delivery later this year. The company has ordered twelve 5,350 dwt plug-in hybrid vessels from Chowgule & Company, with deliveries scheduled quarterly until autumn 2026.

“These vessels, now entering service, are set to become market leaders in cargo capacity and technological innovation. Designed to meet Ice Class 1A standards, they ensure emission-free and quiet operations during port visits, positioning AtoB@C Shipping at the forefront of sustainable maritime transport,” highlighted the Sweden-based company.
