Grimaldi Group is continuing with the expansion of its fleet taking delivery of the next G5-class multipurpose vessel, the Great Casablanca. The vessel will help the company provide additional capacity and boost the connection between Northern Europe and West Africa.

The vessel, fifth in a series of six multipurpose con-ro units has been delivered at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. With a length of 250 metres, a beam of 38 metres, and a weight of 45,684 tons, the design of the Great Casablanca is the result of a careful study of the needs of the Group and its customers. Thanks to an innovative and completely customized internal configuration, these ships are able to transport 4,700 linear meters of rolling freight, 2,500 CEU and 2,000 TEU.

Starting from the end of October the Great Casablanca will regularly call major ports like Casablanca, Abidjan, Tema, Cotonou and Lagos, the company said.

“We are proud to present the Great Casablanca, a new technological gem that helps make our fleet younger and more efficient,” commented Grimaldi Group S.p.A. President Gianluca Grimaldi. “Thanks to our investments, we can offer our customers regular services with high transport capacity while ensuring maximum respect for the environment.”
