Heavy-lift project carrier AAL Shipping continued hitting milestones with its Super B-Class multipurpose (MPP) newbuilds. AAL Hamburg, the second vessel in the series is now ready to make its way to Europe on its maiden voyage after loading a batch of cargo in China.

The 32,000-dwt vessel loaded four 130-metre-long barges, weighing over 5,000 tonnes in total. The Eco-Deck has again been deployed to maximise the available space. The retractable weather-deck system, which can be fitted on all Super B-Class vessels, increases the clear stowage space on deck to over 5,200 square metres.

AAL Hamburg, like all the vessels in the series, is equipped with three heavy lift port side cranes, capable of lifting 350 tonnes each combinable to a 700 tonnes maximum lift. In addition to the four barges for which the Eco-Deck has been deployed, AAL Hamburg is carrying a mix of project cargo, including ducts and panels, boiler parts, transformers and accessories.

AAL Hamburg will soon join its sister vessel AAL Limassol trading on key routes from Asia to Europe, America, and Australia. AAL Limassol recently completed its maiden voyage to Europe, breaking the company’s record for cargo intake, delivering 89,000 freight tons of multipurpose cargo in a single sailing.

The company has also boosted its service between Europe and Asia with a monthly fast-track Europe-Asia Express Liner Service. The Super B-Class MPP heavy-lifters will also be deployed on the newly established service.
