Chipolbrok names another 62,000 DWT multipurpose newbuild
The Chinese-Polish joint stock shipping company, Chipolbrok, has added another 62,000 dwt name to its fleet. The company said it has held the naming ceremony for the multipurpose vessel Yu An at Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding. This is the fifth vessel in the series of Chipolbrok’s 62,000 dwt multipurpose newbuild fleet.
The 199.9 metre-long vessel features five holds with a total capacity of 75,000 cubic metres, four heavy lift cranes with a combined lifting capacity of up to 300 tons and a deck size of 5000 square metres. The vessel is well-suited for bulk cargo, containers and project cargo. According to the company, these are the biggest multipurpose ships in the world. Vessel design was created by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute.
The five vessels are adding additional modern tonnage to the company’s fleet. It also increases Chipolbrok’s potential for carrying huge volumes of capacious project cargoes, including oversized and heavy units as well as much bigger lots of bulk and semi-bulk commodities.
The vessel has completed sea trials earlier this month and according to the Chinese media, it is set to be deployed on the Europe-Asia route. Its maiden voyage is from Indonesia to Estonia, loaded with wind turbine components.
