UWL takes delivery of new deck carrier BraveWind
United Wind Logistics (UWL) has taken delivery of its second newbuild deck carrier, the MV BraveWind. The vessel is currently on its way to Europe carrying barges from Nantong in China to the port of Rotterdam. After completion, the vessel will enter its long-term charter with MHI Vestas.
The BraveWind is the sister vessel to German flagged MV BoldWind and has been handed over to UWL’s German Master on 23 October 2020. “The Captain has been with the vessel since her sea trial phase and has endured all covid-related hardship to take BraveWind to Europe and into her long-term charter in the offshore wind industry”, UWL states.
With a deadweight of 10,000 tonnes and a deck measuring 128 by 28 metres, the deck carrier offers flexibility and intake for any huge or heavy cargo.
The vessel combines an optimized hull design and diesel-electric propulsion to suit its dedicated service field. The electric package is supplied by ABB and powered by four MAN diesel generators driven by MDO. Additionally, the MAN engines meet IMO Tier III emission regulations being equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction system. The vessel is equipped with two bow thrusters and a stern thruster and DP ready.
