Roll Group targets APAC region in new strategic move

Roll Group has opened a number of offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Korea to expand both its land-based business and combined land-sea projects in the Asian Pacific region.

Roll Group has appointed Robin Koenis, a senior heavy-lift and transportation expert in APAC, to become managing director of Roll Group’s Asian Pacific business unit. “Robin has a remarkable track record for over 22 years in the Middle East and Asia and is a common name in the heavy lifting and transportation world, Roll Group CEO Adriaan Aarts says.

Next to Robin Koenis, Roll Group hired further sales staff and experienced engineers “to be able to compete in the top of the market”. Roll Group APAC has invested in Scheuerle SPMT lines which will be directly deployed in a project. Additionally, a fleet of cranes is also being shipped to the region.

The APAC team works from the regional headquarters based in Singapore but besides Singapore, the company has also opened offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Korea. “Many subcontractor offices are located in Singapore and the APAC region is characterized by strong chemical and shipping industry clusters, so we need to be here,” Koenis explains.

Roll group is especially interested in the presence of fabrication yards in the region, that are being used for the construction of modules for modular construction and petrochemical and power facilities. “With our factory to foundation solution we are the partner on land and sea, as we have the assets and expertise to install and transport heavy modules and many other types of cargo all around the world. From now on we operate from three strategic hubs: Rotterdam, Houston and Singapore,’’ Koenis concludes.
