Wilson ASA, a prominent player in the European shortsea shipping market, has signed a significant contract for the construction of eight future-proof newbuildings. These 6,300 deadweight tonnage (dwt) vessels prioritise environmental benefits, flexibility, and operational efficiency, according to the company.

This order expands upon Wilson’s commitment to sustainability, following the announcement of six 3,800 dwt vessels in June 2023. The additional tonnage strengthens Wilson’s position as a modern and environmentally responsible participant in the maritime industry.

All 14 newbuilds are slated for delivery between the first half of 2025 and 2028. The 6,300 dwt vessels will follow the previously announced 3,800 dwt deliveries, contributing to both fleet growth and modernization.

“This major investment marks another milestone in Wilson’s commitment to sustainable and efficient maritime transportation and ensures the company’s ability to deliver flexible and efficient services to our clients,” the company said. “The newbuildings will also contribute to enhanced operational excellence for the Wilson fleet.”
