If there are transformers to be moved, Trans Global Projects (TGP) will likely have a hand in it. Its recent job included exactly that, two 238-metric-tonne transformers for Pattern Energy’s SunZia Wind project in New Mexico,  dubbed the largest wind energy project under construction in the Western Hemisphere.

The delivery was completed by TGP Houston, with assistance from the company’s Bremen office. TGP arranged the shipment of the two units from Europe to the USA by part-charter and the onward delivery by specialized train carriages to the job site. This is just one of a series of shipments TGP has been trusted to deliver from across Europe to sites in Arizona and New Mexico as part of the project.

TGP’s work is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2025 after delivering 38,000 freight tonnes of ancillary equipment and a further 15 transformers for the project.

SunZia Wind is expected to be the largest wind project in the Western Hemisphere at over 3.5 GW total project size. It will feature GE Vernova’s 3.6-154 turbine designed specifically for the United States.
