Rhenus opens logistics centre in Russian region of Voronezh

The Rhenus Group opened a new logistics facility in Voronezh in the south of central Russia. The opening of the new facility is connected to the launch of the “Rhenus Silk Way” project.

The business site will particularly develop dedicated transport and logistics solutions for customers in the agricultural sector.

The logistics centre has a warehouse measuring 20,000 square metres, including a cool section for storing goods that perish quickly, and 2,500 square metres of office space.

“We believe there’s huge potential in the Voronezh District for us to establish ourselves as a logistics partner for trade and industry. We particularly want to provide support for our customers’ developments in the agricultural sector in future. After all, Voronezh is ideally located on the New Silk Road corridor between Europe and Asia,” said Olaf Metzger, Managing Director of OOO Rhenus Freight Logistics.

A special economic zone is also being established in Voronezh to attract metal-processing industrial companies.

The opening of the new facility was attended by the First Deputy Governor of the Voronezh Region, Vitaly Alexeyevich Shabalatov. “Investments in the Voronezh District form the basis for economic growth, new jobs and increases in income. We’re therefore supporting the implementation of major projects and new settlements like that of the Rhenus Group,” he said.
