First floating wind turbine on the North Sea

The French offshore group Bourbon has installed the first floating wind turbine on the North Sea. The wind turbine was positioned at the Kincardine wind farm, fifteen kilometres off the coast of Aberdeen.

This reports the Schiedam-based company Vryhof, which specialises in mooring systems and provided a mooring solution on behalf of the Spanish contractor Cobra.

The wind turbine was towed in its entirety, including a floater, from a wharf in Dundee, Scotland, to the wind farm. In total, five floating turbines will be installed.
