APT Global, a marine services provider was recently contracted by Boskalis to make sure that the heavy transport vessel Forte is ready for its next job. 

The project involved the removal of steel deck structures, approximately 3,500 tons in different configurations from forward to aft, spread across the deck. Upon completion, the deck was cleaned to make it ready for the next project.

The project was carried out at APT private quayside in RAK Maritime City, in the United Arab Emirates. The whole job involved 13.8 kilometres of steel cutting, 1500 metres of gouging for deck preparation, and 248 crane lift movements. APT had 15 days to complete the task.

Material removed from the vessel will be recycled according to the green protocols of the European Union. APT Global is the only green ship recycling company in the United Arab Emirates.
