LASO threads the tight roads with a 6-metre wide load
LASO País Vasco, a unit of the logistics specialist LASO Transportes, completed the transport of a massive compressor from Eibar to the CLDN Terminal in the Port of Santander. The complex operation, demanding meticulous planning and teamwork, underscored LASO’s expertise in special transport solutions.
Initiated in March, the project involved a comprehensive analysis of the route and potential challenges. The compressor’s significant dimensions, measuring 6 meters wide and 4.5 meters high, necessitated selecting the appropriate equipment to ensure safe transport and maintain the cargo’s stability. An extendable lowered platform was chosen to facilitate manoeuvring throughout the journey.
However, navigating tight corners presented an additional hurdle. On sections with limited width (as narrow as 6.5 meters), partial disassembly of the compressor became unavoidable. This required careful reassembly upon reaching wider sections of the route.
The Basque Country team, including sales, technical personnel, and drivers, played a critical role in the project’s success. Their dedication and professionalism were instrumental in overcoming the logistical obstacles. Furthermore, continuous support from the Ertzaina (Basque Country Police) proved essential in guaranteeing safety throughout the transport.
“This transport demonstrates the alignment of LASO Basque Country’s values with the rest of our subsidiaries. It was a great challenge and we are very proud of the success of this operation. The professionalism and commitment of everyone involved in overcoming all the obstacles is to be commended,” shares the Basque Country team.
