The modernisation of the Brake seaport is continuing with the arrival of a new Liebherr LPS 600 gantry crane. The unit was brought to the port by Jumbo Maritime’s heavy load carrier, Jumbo Jubilee.

J. MÜLLER Weser will first run tests following the final installation. The company which has invested a total of €7.5 million will also conduct crane operator training before putting the unit into operation later this year. The company added that the LPS600 is the most powerful Liebherr gantry crane in the series in Germany.

Jumbo Jubilee was picked for the job as the LPS 600 was shipped fully assembled directly from the production site in Rostock to the Brake terminal. The crane can handle up to 800 tons of bulk material per hour and loads of up to 90 tons with a reach of 61 metres.
