Trailer manufacturer Broshuis extends factory closure

Dutch trailer manufacturer Broshuis is extending the closure of its factory. National measures and supply issues make it impossible to start production again. The company expects to open partly again on the 2nd of June.

“On March 30, we had to decide to shut down the factory. Last week, the regulations from the Dutch ministries and health organisation RIVM were ratified again and unfortunately, there is no room for softening yet”, Broshuis states in an announcement.

The manufacturer is examining how it can implement the one-and-a-half-meter-economy proposed by the Dutch government. “In most cases, we have been able to find a solution but unfortunately not yet everywhere. Making unique trailers does not always make the process easy. As long as it is not possible to work safely, no work will be done”, states Broshuis.

Additionally, the manufacturer’s crucial suppliers are also still closed and dealing with insufficient supplies them themselves. “This makes it impossible for us to start again. We think that as of 2 June we should be able to partly start production again partly. Of course, it remains dependent on how the virus develops”, the company says.
