Roll Group has completed a large-scale module load-out project at a fabrication yard in Oman, handling a total weight of 72,254 metric tons across 46 load-outs without incident.

The project involved the transportation of modules as large as 80 meters long, 50 meters wide, and 56 meters high, with the heaviest module weighing 7,063.8 tonnes. To execute this complex operation, Roll Group deployed 272 SPMT axle lines, 10 power pack units, eight winches, and 22 ballast pumps.

The load-out project came close after the company completed two lifts, each exceeding 1,000 tonnes, at a Petrochemical facility in Cilegon, Indonesia. Roll Group said it was hired for a combined scope, utilising its fleet of SPMTs, cranes, and the newly developed Heavy Gantry Crane system.

The implementation of Roll Group’s Heavy Gantry Crane system represents a leap forward in the company’s ability to install very heavy loads, weighing up to 3,000 tonnes, and towering heights exceeding 120 metres. What sets this system apart is its ability to operate without the need for guy wires, minimising disruptions to surrounding areas while maximising efficiency, the company claims.

In the context of the Cilegon project, Roll Group is responsible for more than just the gantry lifts. Their tasks include unloading incoming vessels, transporting all cargo within the facility, and positioning the cargo using a total transport solution. This involves engineering, project management, and the use of SPMTs and five crawler cranes.
