Broekman Logistics acquire J.C. Meijers expanding breakbulk capacity in Rotterdam

Rotterdam-based Broekman Logistics has expanded its breakbulk footprint in the Port of Rotterdam by acquiring B.V. Expeditie- en Stuwadoors Maatschappij J.C. Meijers. As of November 1, all activities and assets of J.C. Meijers to JCMB B.V. a member of Broekman Logistics. 

“With the acquisition, Broekman Logistics takes the next step in the Breakbulk Carousel,” the company said. This project was initiated in 2018 by the Port of Rotterdam Authority and companies active in the port, to strengthen the breakbulk sector.

Erik Meijers who has been at the helm of J.C. Meijers, a well-known name in the Rotterdam stevedoring sector, has handed over the terminal’s activities. Financial terms of the acquisition remained confidential.

“This acquisition is an important strategic investment for Broekman Logistics, as JCMB is located adjacent to the Broekman Project Services terminal. The expertise and facilities strengthen our position as an industry specialist for breakbulk, heavy lift, and offshore. We look forward to collaborating with the customers and partners of J.C. Meijers,” Rob van Dijk, Director of Operations at JCMB, says.

“This next step in the Breakbulk Carousel, together with all involved parties, shows that the Port of Rotterdam is strongly committed to the development and modernization of the breakbulk sector,” Twan Romeijn, Business Manager Breakbulk and Offshore Industry at Port of Rotterdam.

The terminal spans 19,000 square meters and boasts a 270-meter quay. It offers 3,000 square meters of indoor storage and has a lifting capacity of up to 120 tons. The terminal is also equipped with a rail connection, enabling efficient multimodal transport operations.
