Expeditors flies gas turbine rotor from Abu Dhabi to UK
The Seattle-based logistics company, Expeditors, shipped a £12 million pound gas turbine rotor from Abu Dhabi to the United Kingdom, via air. An Antonov International Cargo Transporter plane was used to transport the cargo rapidly.
Due to the cargo needing to be transported urgently, the Mitsubishi team and the Abu-Dhabi workshop staff worked through the night to address last-minute security issues. As an additional obstacle, a sandstorm was taking place in Abu Dhabi at the time.
The cargo was then safely transported by air, by Antonov Airlines, and arrived in Doncaster airport in Scotland on schedule. From the airport, the gas turbine rotor was then brought to the power station site, to secure power generation capacity in readiness for the coming winter.
