Chipolbrok orders two more 62,000 dwt MPPs at Chengxi Shipyard
The Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping (Chipolbrok) is continuing its expansion spree with an order for two new vessels at the Chengxi Shipyard in China. The company said the vessels will be similar to the previously delivered series of 62,000 dwt multipurpose (MPP) units.
One of these vessels, Tai Xing, delivered in 2021, recently completed its 16th voyage, unloading at Gdynia. Recently delivered Boym completed the series of six 62,000-dwt multipurpose vessels, the largest of their kind in the world. The ship measures 199.9 metres in length and 32.26 metres in width. Its four cranes, with a combined lifting capacity of 300 tons, enable it to handle various large machinery and project cargo.
The company said that the main focus of these vessels has been bulk cargo like fertilizers, minerals, steel, and non-ferrous metal products and quite regularly full loads of wind power equipment and project cargo/modules when it comes to shipments from China/the Far East.
Having proven their capabilities over the last couple of years, showing as a commercial success, Chipolbrock decided to expand the XXL fleet with two more units. Both vessels are expected to enter service in 2025/2026.
The order for the XLL pair follows the recent decision by Chipolbrok to enter the heavy-lift MPP sector with the order for two 38,000-dwt heavy-lift MPPs at Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC).
The new vessels are equipped with three 250-ton cranes, which can be combined to lift up to 500 tons. The ships feature two extra-long cargo holds capable of accommodating equipment up to 76.8 meters in length and a fully open deck for versatile cargo handling. Adjustable tweendecks provide flexibility for loading various sizes of project cargo.
To enhance environmental sustainability, the vessels incorporate energy-saving devices, high-voltage shore power systems, and a streamlined hull design. These features contribute to reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions.
