Haropa Port has responded to the growing demands of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for additional space by making its Bougainville quay available. The facility was previously used to build the gravity-based foundations of the Fécamp offshore wind farm.

Now the space will be used to store the wind blades produced by Siemens Gamesa. The quay has already witnessed the delivery of 93 units between July and mid-August. Multipurpose vessel Joe delivered the blades from the factory to the laydown area.  The 81-metre-long blades are currently stored on the quayside, awaiting delivery to the offshore wind farm off islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.

Further 105 blades are scheduled for delivery in January 2025, 42 of which are destined for the Vendéen project and 63 for the Dieppe – Le Tréport project.

By opening its port to the offshore wind sector, Haropa Port is actively contributing to France’s goals for energy transition, which seek to attain a 33 per cent proportion of renewable energy in its energy mix by 2030.
