F.H. Bertling Logistics has recently completed a project involving the transportation of heavy oil and gas machinery from Shanghai to Singapore.

Bertling’s Shanghai and Singapore logistics teams collaborated to handle the complex operation, which included an inlet separator destined for a not normally manned (NNM) platform. This platform is designed to act as a backfill opportunity for the existing Prelude FLNG facility.

Shell’s Prelude FLNG unit is liquefying natural gas from a remote field approximately 475 km off Broome in Western Australia. The facility produces 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of liquefied petroleum gas

The cargo handled by F.H. Bertling Logistics comprised a total volume of 370.497 cubic meters, with the heaviest piece weighing 168 metric tonnes and the largest piece measuring 17.7 x 4.4 x 4.7 meters.

Bertling’s scope of work involved a part charter for barge transportation of the machinery from the Morimatsu Nantong yard to Shanghai port, followed by onward shipment to Singapore on the heavy lift multipurpose vessel AAL Fremantle.

The company ensured the preparation of detailed feasibility studies and method statements, including engineering calculations aligned with the client’s appointed Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) requirements.
